About us:   Located in the heart of Sydney's CBD, St Andrew's Cathedral School is a vibrant, coeducational, Kindergarten to Year 12 school with a strong academic program, extensive co-curricular opportunities in sport, music, drama and outdoor education and a nurturing student wellbeing program. Located in two high-rise city buildings, our dynamic facilities provide fabulous learning spaces and our outstanding teachers are passionate professional educators who support and encourage every student's interests and abilities within a framework of Christian values.
Accessibility:   Junior and Middle School facilities in St Andrew's House offer immediate undercover access from Town Hall Train Station. The school is easily accessible throughout the Sydney metropolitan area using public transport. Many parents accompany their children to school on public transport, dropping off their children on the way to their own city workplace.

Junior School (Kindergarten to Year 6):   The busy and productive working environment of our Junior School is facilitated by smaller class sizes, a unique rooftop playground, open-plan interactive areas and modern classrooms. A highly acclaimed Gifted and Talented education program is offered to students who need a differentiated learning plan that challenges and engages them.

Middle School (Years 7 to 9):   Students in Years 7 - 9 are encouraged to explore all their interests and passions, while developing good study habits and citizenship skills. Our IB Middle Years Programme helps our students develop critical and creative thinking skills, research and communication skills, along with team-building and collaboration skills, while building their competencies in core subject areas.

Senior College (Years 10 to 12):  Students can choose to study the Higher School Certificate (HSC) or the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme in Years 11 and 12. Learning is situated in the Bishop Barry Senior College, which provides a collegiate style campus tailored specifically to the learning needs for Years 10 to 12.

Christian values in the Anglican tradition:   We have an inclusive school community based on understanding, compassion and mutual respect between all students, with values of grace, integrity and justice at the core of daily learning. Our students all attend weekly school chapel services and learn what the Bible teaches in weekly Christian Studies classes.

Subject selection:  St Andrew's offers enormous choice in terms of subject areas and standards. We aim to cater for all interests and learning levels in Senior College years, from extension courses in core subjects to TAFE-delivered vocational education courses. The large year cohorts in the Senior College allow a diverse number of subject choices, with the vast majority of students being offered their preferred university choice at the conclusion of Year 12.

Technology:   All classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art multi-media facilities. All students from Years 5-9 bring their own iPads to school for learning. Year 10-12 students can choose between a tablet or laptop for their access to learning technologies.

School Houses:   These constitute a major structural and pastoral role within the school, with each student a member of one of eight houses. Not only are Houses used in competitions such as sport and debating, but as an opportunity for individual academic development, via small, House-based tutor groups that all students meet with on a weekly basis. This fosters greater inter-year friendships and a culture of care between students as they assist one another both in and out of the classroom.

Music and Performing Arts:   The school has an exceptional reputation in performing arts, with over 30 music ensembles, aimed at a range of skill levels, integrated with outstanding performance opportunities that include weekly Cathedral events, musicals and interstate and international tours. Drama facilities include an in-house Black Box theatre and open theatre-style classrooms. There are a variety of annual productions for Middle School and Senior College, as well as inter-school Theatresports competitions.

City links:   Our staff and students can easily access learning experiences outside the classroom, with all the city's institutions, performance spaces, museums, galleries and historically significant sites all on the school's doorstep.

Sport and fitness:   The school's home sporting facilities are located at Sydney University, (including St Andrew's Oval) and the nearby Wentworth Park. On-site facilities include a gymnasium, basketball courts and cricket nets, as well as a fully-equipped strength and conditioning centre. A variety of sports, including dance and fencing, are offered on site.

Outdoor Education:   St Andrew's owns and operates a 90-hectare outdoor education site at Kirrikee, in the Southern Highlands. A vast range of age appropriate camp programs are offered, commencing in Year 3. Secondary students can go on trips that include expeditions from Mount Kosciusko to Bass Strait, mountain biking in New Zealand, canoeing on the Murray, cross-country skiing and community service projects in central Australia.

When to enrol:   We see the school experience as a journey from entry year to graduation and encourage students and their families to start as early as possible to ensure they can fully enjoy and thrive academically, in co-curricular and socially while at our fabulous school, which nurtures and values every individual's abilities and talents.
